چکیده
Abstract Megadroughts are notable manifestations of the American Southwest, but not so much European climate. By using long-term hydrological and meteorological observations, as well paleoclimate reconstructions, here we show that central Europe has experienced longer severe droughts during Spörer Minimum (~AD 1400–1480) Dalton 1770–1840), than ones observed 21st century. These two megadroughts appear to be linked with a cold state North Atlantic Ocean enhanced winter atmospheric blocking activity over British Isles western part Europe, concurrent reduced solar forcing explosive volcanism. Moreover, recent drought events (e.g., 2003, 2015, 2018), within range natural variability they unprecedented last millennium.

Turbulence in more than two and less than three dimensions.
We investigate the behavior of turbulent systems in geometries with one compactified dimension. A novel phenomenological scenario dominated by the splitting of the turbulent cascade emerges both from the theoretical analysis of passive scalar turbulence and from direct numerical simulations of Navier-Stokes turbulence.
متن کاملDo more sociable dogs gaze longer to the human face than less sociable ones?
Domestic dogs (Canis familiaris) are especially skillful in communicating with humans, and they rely on special abilities to do that. One of these skills involves gazing at human faces in cases of uncertainty or when seeking for something out of reach. In this study, we evaluated the relationship between dogs' sociability level and the ability to learn to gaze in a situation with food in sight ...

15 صفحه اولSevere Ketoacidosis (pH ≤ 6.9) in Type 2 Diabetes: More Frequent and Less Ominous Than Previously Thought
Diabetic ketoacidosis is a life-threatening acute metabolic complication of uncontrolled diabetes. Severe cases of DKA (pH ≤ 7.00, bicarbonate level ≤ 10.0, anion gap > 12, positive ketones, and altered mental status) are commonly encountered in patients with type 1 diabetes and are thought to carry an ominous prognosis. There is not enough information on the clinical course of severely acidoti...

In a paper called Definiteness and Knowability, Timothy Williamson investigates the question of whether one must accept that vagueness is an epistemic phenomenon if one adopts classical logic and a disquotational principle for truth. Some have thought that one must not, and have argued that classical logic and the disquotational principle can be preserved without accepting that vagueness is an ...
